Khachinchay reservoir to provide water for 7,000 hectares of land

After the Patriotic War, the Commission of the Azerbaijan Amelioration and Water Farm OJSC inspected the Khachinchay reservoir and drew up a defect report, said Hafiz Azimzada, the head of the Aghdam Mechanical Irrigation Department, Report informs.

"It was determined that this reservoir was illegally exploited and neglected by Armenians for 29 years. Some equipment has become unusable. The 940-meter-long dam was resurfaced with concrete as a result of major repair work that began in 2021. Also, a 7,000-meter irrigation channel was covered with concrete, and hydrotechnical devices were installed on it.

During the renovation of the lake, an administrative building and a guard building were also built and put into use," said Azimzada.

According to him, the Khachinchay Reservoir located in the Aghdam district was put into operation in 1964: "The goal is to irrigate 7,000 hectares of farmland. The length of the reservoir is 2,500 meters, its width is 1,500 meters, the length of the dam above it is 940 meters, and the mirror area of the water surface is 176 hectares, which allows collecting 23 million cubic meters of water."
