“Kazakhstan’s Transport Minister Marat Karabayev met with his Latvian counterpart Kaspars Briskens. At the meeting, views were exchanged on the current situation and development prospects of the transport sector in Kazakhstan and Latvia. In addition, a Memorandum on the development of TITR was signed,” reads the statement.

Karabayev noted that Kazakhstan and Latvia are actively developing transit and transport cooperation.

According to the Minister of Kazakhstan, today the Middle Corridor has a special role as an alternative to other routes:

“This is proven by the doubling of the volume of cargo transportation at the end of 2023.

In order to increase the potential of TITR, as well as to eliminate bottlenecks on the route, work is being done to improve the infrastructure and terminal capacity, expand the port capacity, eliminate administrative obstacles and create favorable conditions for carriers. This will allow increasing the production capacity of TITR to 10 million tons per year by 2025.”
