Kazakh minister: Capacity of Middle Corridor can increase fivefold

The capacity of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor) can increase 5 times, Kazakhstan's Minister of Transport Marat Karabaev said at the International Transport and Logistics Forum "New Silk Road" in Astana, Report informs via foreign media.

"Cargo from China to Europe travels through this corridor in 18 days. This is the shortest route between the parties," he said.

"The railway administrations of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Kazakhstan have created a joint venture. This company acts as a transport operator along the entire route. We have determined the cost of transportation for the next 5 years. This factor attracts cargo carriers. In other words, the price of transportation will not change for 5 years," Karabaev said.
