Urban cooperation plays an important role in solving housing problems, Junaid Rafiq, Communications Coordinator of UCLG-MEWA, stated at the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, Report informs.
According to him, the organization has long functioned as an international network bringing cities together: "Today our work is built on urban rights, the recognition of housing as a human right, and supporting the implementation of the New Urban Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals."
Rafiq noted that UCLG-MEWA serves as a platform for intercity cooperation in the Middle East and Western Asia: "We connect cities facing conflict, refugee flows, rapid urbanization, and housing challenges. Through this cooperation, cities share strategies, pool resources, and establish links with global partners."
