Tajikistan and Azerbaijan intend to collaborate on the e-Permit project, which envisions the transition to electronic permits for international road transport, Tajikistan's Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Ilhom Abdurahmon, said in an interview with Report.
According to him, the initiative is part of a broader cooperation to develop transport and logistics infrastructure to expedite shipments, including for perishable agricultural products.
"Our countries understand the need to ensure multimodal compatibility of digital solutions and expand cooperation in integrating electronic transport documents with regulatory information systems. This allows us to gradually reduce paperwork and make shipments faster and more convenient," the ambassador noted.
Abdurahmon also noted that special attention was paid to these issues at the last meeting of the intergovernmental commission (May 21, 2026 – ed.). He noted that the parties discussed the development of transport and logistics infrastructure, as well as expanding opportunities for the uninterrupted transportation of Tajik cargo through Azerbaijan.
The Baku International Sea Trade Port plays an important role, having expressed interest in ensuring the prompt, reliable, and efficient receipt, transshipment, and transportation of Tajik cargo, making full use of existing port and logistics capabilities, he emphasized.
The ambassador added that Tajikistan and Azerbaijan view the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor) as a key route for developing bilateral export-import and transit traffic to Europe. Furthermore, the countries intend to more actively collaborate within the Eurasian Transport Route International Association and strengthen practical cooperation between Tajik relevant agencies and the Baku International Sea Trade Port, he stated.
