Hikmat Hajiyev: Azerbaijan rebuilding devastated territories from scratch

Around nine cities in Azerbaijan were almost completely destroyed, and over 300 settlements and villages were severely damaged as a result of the conflict with Armenia, Hikmat Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, said at an event as part of WUF13 in Baku, Report informs.

According to him, the liberated territories are essentially being rebuilt from scratch due to extensive landmine contamination.

"The presence of approximately 1.5 million landmines and other explosive devices creates serious security risks. Therefore, large-scale demining operations are being conducted," Hikmat Hajiyev emphasized.

He noted that security and creating living conditions are key in post-conflict reconstruction.

"In the process of restoring the liberated territories, opportunities to utilize international experience and expertise are also being explored," the presidential aide stated.
