Number of flights between Azerbaijan and Iran to rise

The number of flights twice a week between Azerbaijan and Iran is expected to increase to four, Ali Purmarjan, chairman of the Cultural Center of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Azerbaijan, told Report.

According to him, Buta Airways, a subsidiary of Azerbaijan Airlines, currently implement flights to Iran every Friday and Iran's IR Air on Mondays:

"The talks are currently underway to increase the number of flights between Azerbaijan and Iran to four a week."

Purmarjan added that the Iranian Embassy in Azerbaijan wants to open ground communications between Azerbaijan and Iran:

"If the roads are opened, the flow of tourists between the two countries will increase. Azerbaijanis will go to Iran, and there will be many tourists from Iran to Azerbaijan. Azerbaijani tourists in Iran are in the top three on the list of visitors to the country. More than 1 million Azerbaijani tourists visit Iran every year."
