First-ever cargo transportation in covered wagons via BTK railway

ADY Express LLC, a subsidiary of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC, has made another breakthrough in cargo transportation via the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway, Report informs citing ADY Express.

For the first time, the company carried out cargo transportation in covered wagons via the BTK railway. Until now, only gondola cars, containers, and hoppers (grain wagons) were used in BTK. Carrying out cargo transportation in covered wagons and transshipment of goods is considered another technological advancement.

This time, the company transported soybean meal from Turkey to Azerbaijan (also known as cakes and other solid residues from the extraction of soybean oil, unmilled or ground, not granular or granular).

The 300-ton soybean meal was loaded into covered wagons at Payas station in Turkey’s Iskenderun region and delivered to Kars station. Here, the cargo was transferred to six covered wagons provided by ADY Express, delivered to Akhalkalaki station in Georgia, and then, after changing the wheelsets, transported to Azerbaijan.

As many as 150 tons of cargo were delivered to Sitalchay station and 150 tons to Z. Tagiyev station. Soybean meal is used in poultry, and the transportation of such cargo is expected to be sustainable.
