Electric buses to be commissioned in Baku by end of 2022

Over the past six years, 34% of the bus fleet in Baku has been replaced by environmentally friendly Euro VI CNG buses, Report mentions, referring to Baku Transport Agency.

The goal is to increase this figure to 75% by the end of 2022 and put electric buses into operation.

Compared to diesel buses, CNG buses emit 30% less carbon dioxide and 32% less nitrogen dioxide.

Compared to 2015, the volume of pollutants emitted into the atmosphere by road in 2019 decreased by 3.3% (32.5 tons), and the per capita figure decreased by 5.8% or 5.9 kg.

"Using a bicycle, a healthy and environmentally friendly vehicle, is the most successful alternative vehicle that can contribute to climate change today. Aiming to popularize the bike as a vehicle, the agency is working on organizing bicycle paths and stripes. Measures are being taken to promote active mobility, comfortable pedestrian movements, and create conditions for active cycling," the Agency said.
