Deputy Minister: Another multimodal transport hub might be built in Baku

A multimodal transport exchange hub, similar to the one created around the 28 May metro station in Baku, could be built at the Darnagul station as well, Azerbaijani Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rahman Hummatov said during a briefing on the transport sector's achievements in 2024, Report informs.

Hummatov highlighted the growing interest in railway transport in Azerbaijan: "In 2024, more than 8.4 million passengers were transported by railway. However, this number could increase by about five times, especially on the Baku Circular Railway line."

The deputy minister also noted that a multimodal hub has already been established at the 28 May metro station in Baku, facilitating connections between the railway, metro, and buses.

"The next such project could be implemented near the Darnagul metro station. This issue is currently under discussion," he said.

The 28 May Transport Exchange Center, based on the "All in one" principle and part of Baku's mobility transformation program, began operating on November 7, 2024. It serves 181,000 passengers daily with 259 buses on 16 regular routes.
