The Azerbaijani government has identified areas where trams will be effective in Baku, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rahman Hummatov said during a briefing on the 2024 transport sector developments, Report informs.
"Trams are designed for mass transportation, and their implementation requires suitable locations. We have conducted analyses and identified areas in the capital where the construction of tram lines would be beneficial. In the city center, the metro remains the most efficient means of transportation.
However, trams can play a significant role, particularly from the Mehdiabad settlement towards Azadlig Avenue, passing through Binagadi to the 28 May metro station.
Additionally, with new settlements being developed in the Sea Breeze area, trams can prove to be a valuable transportation option," he noted.
