Construction of Center–West Corridor begins in Kazakhstan with connection to Middle Corridor

Construction of the Center–West highway corridor, which will connect to the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor), has been launched in Kostanay region, Kazakhstan, Report informs, citing Kazakhstan's Ministry of Transport.

The project is implemented by order of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and is a key component of the government's plans to develop transport infrastructure and transit potential.

Construction began simultaneously in Arkalyk and Torgay in the Zhangeldi district of Kostanay region. The highway will connect Astana–Zhanteke–Egindikol–Arkalyk–Torgay–Irgiz, with a total length of 865 km.

"The new highway corridor will provide a direct link between the center and the west of the country, and will enable access to the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor). The project will shorten the distance between Astana and Irgiz by 573 km," the statement said.

The Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (also called Middle Corridor) is an international corridor that runs through China, Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and further to Türkiye and European countries.
