China's ‘Belt and Road’ Initiative witnesses growth in cargo volume

The ambitious “Belt and Road” initiative, spearheaded by China, continues to make significant strides as the number of trains and the volume of cargo transported along this route steadily increases, said Yang Bin, the president of China Railway Container Transport Corp. Ltd. (CRCT), Report informs.

Yang Bin shared these insights during the consultative meeting of railway administration heads in Baku on establishing the "Eurasian Transport Route" International Association.

According to him, the "Belt and Road" initiative presents a wealth of opportunities for participating countries. "These developments are the result of the collective efforts of the countries involved," he stated.

However, Yang Bin also acknowledged the existence of certain challenges along the route. The Caspian Sea crossings, in particular, can prolong some processes and increase transportation times, potentially impacting the competitiveness of the route compared to other countries. Despite these hurdles, he expressed his desire for further expansion of cooperation in the future.
