China attaches great importance to the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR or Middle Corridor), China's charge d'affaires in Azerbaijan Ding Tao said, Report informs.

Tao made the statement at a press conference on the results of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Heads of State Council Meeting.

The diplomat noted that the leaders of China and Azerbaijan signed two important documents during the meeting held in Astana on July 3.

"One of them refers to the joint development of the Middle Corridor, and the other to the Belt and Road Initiative”, he added.

Tao also pointed out that more than 100 container block trains have been sent to Azerbaijan from Chinese cities via the Caspian Sea since the beginning of 2024, which is about nine times more year-on-year.

"Currently, Chinese and Azerbaijani entrepreneurs are continuing relations to strengthen cooperation in infrastructure and increase logistics efficiency,” the diplomat added.

China is willing to jointly promote the integration of the Belt and Road Initiative with the Middle Corridor and jointly protect the stability of the supply chain.
