Basic infrastructure creation in Agdam is to be completed by the end of 2022

The creation of basic infrastructure within the framework of restoration work in Agdam is expected to be completed before the end of this year.

Report informs that Special Representative of the Azerbaijani President in the territories liberated from occupation, part of the Karabakh economic region (with the exception of the Shusha region), assistant to First Vice President Emin Huseynov told reporters.

“The main works are nearing completion; the construction of social infrastructure has already begun. The construction of school No 1, a hospital, a residential building, an industrial park, historical and cultural sites, building complexes, the restoration of Giyasli and Juma mosques has begun. At the next stage, we will deal directly with the restoration of public places in the central part of the city, which will bring us even closer to the stage of the Great Return,” E. Huseynov said.

According to him, the restoration work in Agdam is ahead of other territories liberated from occupation. “At first, the General Plan of the city of Agdam was approved by President Ilham Aliyev. Since then, that is, since May 28, 2021, these processes have gained a wide scope. The main basic infrastructure is now being laid, thanks to the clearing of the area and the opening of several corridors with the participation of more than 1,000 people in a short time. At present, the basic infrastructure is being built using these corridors. The construction of the road to Agdam was scheduled to be completed next year, but we believe that this can be done by the end of this year. We are doing our best to this end."

Emin Huseynov added that a power supply system has already been built in the city, Agdam-1 and Agdam-2 substations have been built, and the Karabakh digital control center has been put into operation by Azerenerji.

"Currently, design work is being completed on laying the main gas and water lines to the region. As President Ilham Aliyev noted at a meeting following the results of the first quarter, this year, design work is already being completed related to the restoration of the main reservoirs - Khachinchay and Agdamkand, as well as canals from them. Tenders for restoration work will be announced,” he said.
