Baku to host panel discussion on human displacement in context of climate change

On November 18, Azerbaijan and the International Organization for Migration will jointly organize a high-level panel discussion on "Human Displacement in the Context of Climate Change" in Baku, said Ulvi Aliyev, the head of the International Cooperation Department of the Azerbaijani State Migration Service, Report informs.

According to Aliyev, under the agreement between the Government of Azerbaijan and the Secretariat of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, the registration period for COP29 participants has been extended from 15 to 30 days: "These benefits apply to foreigners and stateless persons arriving in the country with a COP29 visa or visa-free after registering on the UNFCCC website."

Aliyev noted that all necessary technical and organizational measures have been taken to facilitate the entry and exit of event participants. Information about migration rules has been posted on websites related to COP29 and communicated to airlines and other target groups. The migration service at Heydar Aliyev International Airport and the service's call center will switch to enhanced operation mode to ensure smooth passage for foreigners.
