Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan set up working group on railway transport

Azerbaijan Railways CJSC (ADY) and Uzbekistan Railways JSC have established a working group to increase freight traffic between the two countries, as well as to resolve bilateral issues, Report mentions, referring to ADY.

The working group's next meeting will be held in Baku later this month.

In their meeting in Tashkent, the heads of the Azerbaijani and Uzbek railway companies docused on issues related to the development of bilateral cooperation. They mulled technical and technological assistance between the railway agencies of the two countries, drawing attention to the practical and beneficial activities carried out for the development of the Asia-Pacific countries - China - Kyrgyzstan - Uzbekistan - Turkmenistan - Azerbaijan - Georgia - Turkiye - Europe international multimodal route. This includes maintaining infrastructure and rolling stock, providing technical and technological assistance for repairs, and increasing the volume of cargo transportation through the two countries. The meeting participants stressed the need to continue the interaction of international and multimodal transport corridors in connection with the current situation. It was noted that the coordination and interaction of the parties would allow to revive and increase the volume of freight traffic, accelerate the passage of container trains and organize combined freight traffic.
