Some 28.1% (or 202,685 tons) of railway cargo entering Georgia in the second quarter of 2024, originated from Azerbaijan, Report informs, citing the National Statistical Office of Georgia.
During this period, 3.6 million tons of cargo were transported by Georgia’s railways, marking a 2.3% increase compared to the previous year.
Of the total cargo, 11.1% was domestic, 27.7% was international (excluding transit), and 61.2% was transit cargo.
In terms of origin, 38.4% of the railway cargo entering Georgia came from Russia, 28.1% from Azerbaijan, and 33.5% from other countries.
Regarding the types of cargo, coal, crude oil, oil products, and natural gas made up 29% of the total volume over three months.
Metal ores and other mining products accounted for 25.2%, while petroleum coke and refined oil products constituted 16.8%.
