Azerbaijan may expand cooperation with Hungary in railways

A meeting with Hungarian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Viktor Szederkenyi was held at Azerbaijan Railways (ADY) CJSC, Report informs.

Chairman of the CJSC Javid Gurbanov spoke about the bilateral relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries, as well as the existing opportunities for expanding cooperation in the transport sector. Noting the successful steps to increase the country's transit potential in implementing international and regional transport projects, the chairman indicated that substantial work had been done to modernize the railway infrastructure.

According to him, Azerbaijan has become a crossroads of international transport corridors. The process of building the necessary infrastructure to strengthen our country's role as a logistics and transit hub is underway. Javid Gurbanov added that ADY cooperates with Hungarian railways within the Coordinating Council on Trans-Siberian Transportation (CCTT) International Association and the Organisation for Cooperation of Railways (OSJD). He put forward an initiative to expand the cooperation between the Azerbaijani and Hungarian railways, as well as leading logistics companies, and hold a meeting in Baku for this purpose.

The ambassador expressed satisfaction with the development of relations between the two countries and Azerbaijan's activities to expand international and regional projects. He stressed that Hungarian companies are interested in participating in the construction of railways.

The meeting focused on discussions on expanding cooperation.
