Azerbaijan expands co-op with IFC in ‘green construction’

Azerbaijan has discussed expanding cooperation with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) in the field of "green construction", Report informs, citing Azerbaijan’s State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture.

The discussions took place during a meeting between Anar Guliyev, Chairman of the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture, and a delegation led by Ines Rocha, IFC's Regional Director.

During the meeting, Anar Guliyev emphasized the importance of collaboration with IFC and highlighted the necessity of taking further joint steps to study and apply leading global practices in the field of "green construction" in Azerbaijan.

The organization of appropriate certification work to promote the "greening" of construction projects and minimize carbon emissions was also an important topic of discussion.

IFC's Regional Director expressed their readiness to support these initiatives and highly appreciated Azerbaijan's efforts in promoting environmentally friendly building materials and low-carbon buildings.

She also mentioned that IFC is willing to share the best practices gained from the "green construction" project implemented in 96 countries worldwide with Azerbaijan.
