Azerbaijan develops own model of migration management

In recent years, Azerbaijan has managed to develop its own model of migration management, the head of the country's State Migration Service Vusal Huseynov said at the 29th meeting of the Council of Heads of Migration Authorities of the CIS countries, Report informs.

He noted that Azerbaijan is interested in joint activities in the field of migration regulation with the CIS countries.

"Discussions with government partners and international organizations contribute to the promotion of legal migration, the effective use of its potential and the implementation of significant projects in this area. It is thanks to these events that our country became the first in the region of South-Eastern, Eastern Europe and Central Asia, identified by the UN Network on Migration as a pioneer country for the effective implementation of the global compact on migration," he said.

Huseynov also emphasized that the restoration of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan has created new realities in the field of migration in the region.

"However, the problem of landmines in the liberated territories remains one of the main obstacles in resolving this issue. Today, Azerbaijan is one of the countries most contaminated with landmines," he added.
