AZAL's share in Georgian aviation market grows

Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) carried 27,866 passengers to Georgia in the first quarter of this year, Report informs, citing the Georgian Civil Aviation Agency.

The airline's share in the Georgian aviation market during the reporting period was 4%.

Before the pandemic, the number of passengers increased by 8,601 people, or 45%, compared to the same period in 2019. The share of the national carrier of Azerbaijan in the aviation market of Georgia is up 2%.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, flights between Azerbaijan and Georgia were suspended from March 2020. Buta Airways, a low-budget subsidiary of AZAL, resumed flights on the Baku-Tbilisi-Baku route on March 19, 2021.
