Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) has begun operating direct flights to Malé, the capital of the Republic of Maldives. The aircraft belonging to Azerbaijan's national air carrier, successfully made its first landing at Velana International Airport on November 9, Report informs.
Passengers and the flight crew also received a warm reception at the airport, with traditional wreaths symbolizing hospitality and friendship.

The Azerbaijani market has long needed more options for winter tourism, and the Maldives is one of the most popular destinations in the world this season,” said Jamil Manizade, Chief Commercial Officer of AZAL.

Regular flights from Baku to Malé are now available twice a week, on Mondays and Saturdays.
