Azerbaijan is a leading country in taking intensive measures related to water and climate, Israel's ambassador to Azerbaijan, George Deek, told Report.
“I extend my congratulations to Azerbaijan for the successful organization of the Baku Water Week. The initiatives we undertake concerning water management hold significant importance on a global scale. Additionally, the upcoming COP29, set to be hosted in Azerbaijan, represents a monumental event of considerable magnitude,” he said.
The ambassador also said that the strategic partnership between his country and Azerbaijan is manifested in various fields: "One of these fields is water. Israel already cooperates with many companies operating in the water sector in Azerbaijan. Last year, Israel's National Water Agency (Mekorot) joined Azerbaijan's water strategy. The company signed an agreement with the relevant state agency to prepare a report on the matter. This report will be ready in the coming weeks. This cooperation also includes the construction of a water desalination plant in Azerbaijan. A tender has already been held."
It should be recalled that "Mekorot" proposed a project related to artificial rain in order to prevent water shortages in Azerbaijan.
