Aik Hoe Lim: Middle Corridor important for region and on global scale

The Middle Corridor is important in terms of diversifying supplies not only for the region, but also on a global scale, Director of the Trade and Environment Division at the World Trade Organization, Aik Hoe Lim, said at the panel discussion “Middle Corridor: Reshaping the Euro-Asia Connectivity,” according to Report’s correspondent from Tbilisi.

“If we look at the impact of climate change on trade, one of the key consequences that we really feel is the impact on trade routes. About 80% of global trade is carried through sea routes. Climate change makes them more vulnerable. Land routes, and in particular, the Middle Corridor, are part of this diversification,” he noted.
