Azerbaijan is implementing a large-scale early warning system project with support from the Green Climate Fund and the United Nations Environment Programme, Khayam Mammadov, First Deputy Chairman of the State Water Resources Agency of Azerbaijan (ADSEA), said at an event within the framework of WUF13.
Report quotes him as saying an effective early warning system is one of the most important mechanisms for protecting cities.
"Over the next 4–5 years, Azerbaijan, with the support of the Green Climate Fund and the United Nations Environment Programme, will implement a large-scale early warning system project. The project will be jointly carried out by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and the State Water Resources Agency of Azerbaijan," Khayam Mammadov noted.
He emphasized that the project includes the creation of modern flood and drought modeling systems, as well as the introduction of advanced scientific tools.
Mammadov also said that Azerbaijan is actively investing in strengthening water and hydraulic infrastructure.
