Abzal Saparbekuly: Container transportation by BTK to Kazakhstan has increased rapidly

"The transport sector plays a vital role in increasing trade turnover between Turkey and Kazakhstan. With the opening of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, container traffic to Kazakhstan via the Caspian Sea has been growing at a high pace," Kazakh Ambassador to Turkey Abzal Saparbekuly told Anadolu Agency, Report informs.

According to him, to make BTK more functional, the railways of two countries, truck companies, and organizations need to work together: "Since Kazakhstan has goods to be exported to the world through Turkey. We just need to work to carry it faster and more affordably.

"Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the volume of foreign trade between Turkey and Kazakhstan decreased by 8% year on year. Nevertheless, Turkey's position in Kazakhstan's foreign exchange increased by one point to 6th place.

"Last year, foreign trade between the two countries was expected to reach $3 billion. However, the Turkish president's foreign trade goal is to increase it to $5 billion in the medium term and $10 billion in the long run," he said.
