65% of construction work at Azerbaijan’s Lachin Airport completed

Currently, the overall status of the work on the construction of Lachin Airport is 65%, the Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport and Head of the Working Group Rahman Hummatov said, Report informs.

He made the remark at the next meeting of the Working Group on Transport, Communications and High Technologies under the Interdepartmental Center of the Coordination Headquarters established for centralized resolution of issues in the territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan, in Khankandi.

Hummatov noted that in accordance with the First State Program on the Great Return to the liberated territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the implementation of strategic projects such as the restoration and construction of roads and railways, the construction of new airports, and the construction of telecommunication networks are currently being continued in those territories.

The construction of Lachin International Airport, the foundation of which was laid in 2021, is planned to be completed in 2025. The airport's runway will be 3,000 meters long and 60 meters wide. The airport is being built near the village of Gorchu at an altitude of 1,800 meters above sea level and will be one of the airports located in the highest mountainous area in the post-Soviet space.
