As part of the CANSO Global ATM Summit 2024 and 28th AGM, a ceremony was held to release 5,000 sturgeons into their natural habitat. This initiative, which took place in Neftchala, was undertaken to restore the endangered sturgeon population in the Caspian Basin, Report informs.
The event was attended by representatives of AZAL, AZANS, CANSO, as well as family members of the summit participants. The joint efforts of these organizations aim to have a long-term positive impact on the Caspian Sea ecosystem. The initiative also demonstrates their renewed collaboration and commitment to environmental stewardship and biodiversity conservation.
Sturgeon occupies a unique place in the Caspian Sea ecosystem, being not only an inhabitant of its depths but also a source of one of the most coveted delicacies in the world — caviar.
The CANSO ATM Summit 2024 and 28th AGM convened in Baku from June 11 to 13, drawing around 300 civil aviation leaders from over 80 countries.
With a focus on environmental sustainability, the event seeks to engage air traffic management industry leaders to make crucial decisions, share expertise, and foster meaningful dialogue.
