SOCAR becomes PMC in construction of methanol plant in Russia

State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has been chosen as a Project Management Contractor (PMC) in construction of methanol plant of Gaz Sintez company in Russia for the first time.

Report informs that the annual capacity of the plant, which is planned to be constructed in Vysotsk District of Leningrad province, is expected to be 1.83 million tonnes. Being a contractor in this project, SOCAR became the first Azerbaijani company in Russia as the PMC.

The PMC agreement envisages project management, including management of resources of the beneficiary and contractor towards consequence. SOCAR will provide service on project management in all stages, including planning of management and implementation of the project, organization of execution of the plans, monitoring, supervision, management of changes for delivery of results of the project timely, within the budget and in a required quality.

It was noted that involvement of SOCAR as a PMC is normal. In order to participate in this project, a team of high-skill personnel with experiences in projects such as SOCAR Polymer, SOCAR GPC, SOCAR Carbamide and SOCAR Methanol was created. SOCAR professionals, who are specialized in implementation of major projects, introduced the best proposal for comprehensive project management services: "So, SOCAR is contributing to implementation of state strategy on turning of oil revenues into human capital."

The methanol to be produced in the plant is planned to be exported through oil product terminals of Lukoil located in Vysotsk district. The methanol is planned to ne high quality (grade AA) and its pureness will be 99%. The plant is expected to be launched in 2023.
