Japan eyes investing in Azerbaijan's mining industry

Today, Chairman of the Board of AzerGold CJSC Zakir Ibrahimov met with newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Azerbaijan Junichi Wada, Report states, citing AzerGold.

The chairman emphasized the embassy's contribution to strengthening the existing cooperation between the two countries in many areas and wished the ambassador success in his diplomatic activities. Expressing satisfaction with his appointment to our country, the diplomat said he would spare no effort to develop Azerbaijani-Japanese economic relations, especially to build cooperation in the field of mining.

During the meeting, Ibrahimov spoke about the achievements of AzerGold CJSC, the Company's strategic plans, and the works to increase economic efficiency in the mining sector. The Chairman of the Board stressed that the territories liberated due to our Army's glorious victory under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief opened broad prospects for cooperation in the economic sphere, especially in the mining sector.

Speaking about the National Corporation for Oil, Gas, and Metals of Japan (JOGMEC), Ambassador Junichi Wada said that the Company specializes in the supply of non-ferrous metals and minerals well as oil and natural gas and successfully represents Japan in this sector. The sides exchanged views on the prospects of cooperation with the Company, exchange of experience, investment in the mining industry, and other issues of mutual interest.

Along with the investment, the ambassador said that another promising issue could be applying modern technological solutions and the most advanced innovative models used in the mining industry in Japan in Azerbaijan. Ibrahimov, in turn, noted that the Society is open to creative initiatives that could be useful in the process of digitization of information on the fields, including the reduction of the time required from geological exploration to operation of the areas.

The sides noted that such meetings would create good opportunities to expand cooperation between the two countries further.
