AzerGold mulls opportunities for co-op with French companies

French companies interested in operating in Azerbaijan and AzerGold CJSC have discussed possible opportunities for cooperation, Report informs referring to the company.

The discussions took place as part of the meeting between Zakir Ibrahimov, chairman of the Board of the Joint Stock Company, Louis Toulorge, economic adviser to the French ambassador to Azerbaijan, and Yannick Haronis, Attaché for Economic Affairs.

Ibrahimov briefed the guests on the company's achievements over the past five years. The successful activities of AzerGold in geological exploration, production and other areas, the launch of new mines in the districts and the work done to increase economic efficiency in the mining sector were also discussed. Noting that AzerGold always attaches importance to international cooperation in order to further optimize and improve its activities, Ibrahimov stressed that the company has a successful experience of partnership with foreign companies.

In turn, Louis Toulorge said that French companies have extensive cooperation in Azerbaijan in the field of transport and energy, and expressed interest in developing relations in other areas. The diplomat also noted that such meetings created favorable opportunities for further expansion of cooperation.

In general, the sides exchanged views on the development prospects of the mining industry, discussed issues of mutual interest, including the application of know-how to protect the environment and maintain ecological balance, opportunities for cooperation in the use of alternative energy sources in future projects.
