World judo championship hosted in Baku to end today

Baku. 27 September. REPORT.AZ/ The world judo championship hosted in Baku will be finalised today.

According to Report, the last, eighth day of the championship will be marked by mixed team competitions. Starting from the 1/8 final, the Azerbaijan national team will have Austria as their first rival with the winner of the fight to encounter the winner of the Japan-Mongolia bout in the 1/4 final.

The squad includes five female and six male judokas including Sakina Zayirova, Ichinkhorloo Munkhtsedev (both fighting in the 57 kg division), Aida Bakhishova, Gunel Hasanli (70 kg), Irina Kindzerska (+70 kg), Hidayat Heydarov, Rustam Orujov (both 73 kg), Mammadali Mehdiyev, Tural Safguliyev (both 90 kg), Shahin Gahramanov and Ushangi Kokauri (both +90 kg). In the mixed team compatitions to start at 09.00, female athletes will fight in the 57 kg, 70 kg and +70 kg divisions, while male judokas will compete in the 73 kg, 90 kg and +90 kg category.

19 countries with North and South Korean judokas to fight in the same team for the first time ever will be represented in the competition.

Notably, the Unified Korea team, Brazil and Great Britain will join the competitions in the 1/8 final. They are to encounter the winners of the 1/16 final.
