Baku is one of the peace centers, the Executive Director of the United Nations Settlement Program (UN-Habitat) Maimunah Mohd Sharif said in her speech at the International Ethnosport Forum.
She said she was glad that the meeting took place in the Azerbaijani capital: "I thank the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, the Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov, and the President of the World Ethnosports Confederation Bilal Erdogan for this invitation."
"Ethnosports is a centuries-old cultural practice, and we pay special attention to the involvement of young people. We will do our best to develop these sports, so one of our main goals is to have a lot of young people in ethnosport," she noted.
UN-Habitat Executive Director expressed satisfaction with her recent visit to Azerbaijan and support for UN projects in Azerbaijan.
