Thomas Butcher: "Baku is ready to host Formula 1"

"We worked intensely for more than three months and are now ready," head of construction of the Baku City Circuit racing facility Thomas Butcher said during a media tour on the track. The Australian specialist said that they are currently working on some minor issues: "Officials of Formula 1 and International Automobile Federation are also ready for the racing. We try to organize the race just like in the previous years. Of course, there are things that come out at the very last moment. We set up barriers and doors and paint them in some places. We also installed additional bayers for security purposes in corner sections. At the moment we are dealing with such things."

Butcher said the teams are busy preparing their garage for the racing: “From last week, the teams' cargo are coming to Baku via air, land and water transports. Soon we'll see the pilots here."

Notably, Formula 1 SOCAR Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2019 will be held on April 26-28.
