Teymur Rajabov plays first game in the World Cup final

Azerbaijani chess player Teymur Rajabov played the first game in the World Cup in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia.

Report informs that the 32-year-old grandmaster faced Chinese Ding Liren in the final match of the tournament.

The sides agreed to a draw on the 33rd move of the match, where Rajabov played white.

According to the regulations, the finalists will play 3 more games, one per day. On the last day, tie-breaks are scheduled for decisive meetings. Notably, the World Cup, that started on September 10, will end on October 4.

The prize fund of the tournament is $ 1.6 million. The winner will receive $110,000, while the finalist gets $80,000.
