Sports Minister Gayibov says 2023 won't be an easy year

Azerbaijan's Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov said the 'Swimming Together' competition had been held in 30 pools across the country.

Report informs that the minister said speaking at the awarding ceremony following the competition that this is the first event in the new year: "The competition took place in December, and today the award ceremony is taking place. The competition was held in 30 pools of the country. It is gratifying that there are winners in Baku and in the districts. It involved more than 1,000 people between the ages of 9 and 76.

The minister stressed that the swimming pools in the regional Olympic complexes began to function in winter, and the results are obvious: "Such a competition took place for the first time, but I believe it will become traditional."

Gayibov added that a number of sports projects will be implemented in 2023.

"This year Azerbaijan will host a number of large-scale competitions, including world and European championships, the Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix. Our athletes must prepare for the Summer Olympic Games in Paris in 2024. It will not be an easy year," he said.

The minister also touched upon participation in the European Games, which will start on June 21 in Poland: "The squad that will compete in Poland will probably be specified in 1-2 months. It's too early to talk about it."
