Baku. 1 March. REPORT.AZ/ The World Chess Federation (FIDE) has published the next rating list.
Report informs, Azerbaijani grandmaster Shahriyar Mammadyarov has secured the second position in spite of the fact that his points fell from 2814 to 2809.
At the moment, he is 34 points behind the Norwegian world champion Magnus Carlsen.
That means, Azerbaijani chess player will start the Bidding Tournament as the rating favorite. Because the winner of this tournament will face Carlsen at the meeting for world championship.
Regarding other Azerbaijani representatives, Teymur Rajabov remains on the 18th place with 2748 points. Rauf Mammadov who moved up by one level is 39th with 2709 points. Arkadij Naiditsch who descended by 4 levels is 45th with 2701 points.
