Russian driver sues F1 team

Former Russian Formula 1 driver Nikita Mazepin has sued Haas team.

The 23-year-old driver took this step because of the salary arrears to him from the Haas team, Report says.

Haas terminated Mazepin's contract amid the wave of western sanctions over the Ukraine conflict. "When the contract was terminated, Haas was in arrears in wages to me. They still haven't paid it.” According to him, the team did not fulfil its contractual obligations.

On the other hand, Mazep's title sponsor with Haas, Uralkaliy, owned by his father Dmitry Mazep, also had an independent contract: “You need to understand that we had two independent contracts. And breaking the agreement with the title sponsor did not have a direct impact on my future in the team. So the team made two separate decisions. As I didn't see my money, we are going to court. This is my personal story."
