Report informs citing the RIA Novosti, sister of the athlete from Ufa city Olga Lapshina said.
According to him, V. Lapshin, born in 1981, converted to Islam in 2002.
Russian athlete who was sent to Syria in 2015 with his wife and three children died in March 2016. Recently, his wife, Rufina, returned to Syria with her four children.Rufina married another man after her husband's death, and gave birth to another child.
Notably, Lapshin became Russian champion in 2006. V. Lapshin 58,9 kg scored a total of 5 victories in 9 fights during his professional career in 2005-2009.
