Russia stripped of Olympic bronze over doping

Baku. 22 February. REPORT.AZ/ Russian curler Alexander Krushelnitsky 26, has been stripped of his Olympic bronze medal after admitting to a doping violation at the Pyeongchang Games.

Report informs, Court of Arbitration for Sport has announced. 

According to the court decision, Krushelnitsky tested positive for meldonium, which is believed to help blood circulation, after winning bronze in mixed doubles with his wife, Anastasia Bryzgalova. Krushelnitsky's results had been disqualified and his Olympic credential was withdrawn.

The World Curling Federation and International Olympic Committee will consider the re-distribution of medals. Following this decision, the number of medals in Russia's assets has gone down to 13 (4 silver, 9 bronze).
