An event was held in connection with the successful results of our athletes at the European wrestling championship held in Zagreb, Croatia, Report informs, citing the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation (AWF).
At the event, AWF head Mikayil Jabbarov conveyed President Ilham Aliyev's congratulations to the athletes on the historical successes achieved in the continental championship.
It was emphasized that the flag of Azerbaijan is already flying along all the borders and Azerbaijani wrestlers dedicate their success in the European Championship to the military personnel who protect our borders, the Commander-in-Chief, and the people of Azerbaijan.
At the continental championship, Azerbaijani wrestlers won a total of 14 medals, including 5 gold, 6 silver, and 3 bronze. The national team came in 1st in freestyle wrestling, and in 2nd in Greco-Roman wrestling.
