Juventus joins race for AC Milan’s Hakan Çalhanoğlu

Hakan Çalhanoğlu is poised to become of the many free agents on the market this summer after talks over a new contract with AC Milan have stalled.

Report informs, citing Sky Italia, that impasse centers on Çalhanoğlu’s wage demands, with the player asking for €5m but his team only willing to go as high as €4m per year. As a result, other clubs have now expressed their interest as well, notably Juventus but also Chelsea and Arsenal. The two London clubs have seemingly already sounded out the situation. Still, Juventus are said to have presented the better offer from a financial perspective, which makes them the current favorites.

Çalhanoğlu has been the primary creative outlet for AC Milan this season, with his 11 assists across all competitions the highest for the Serie A side, and he has also chipped in with seven goals. The 27-year-old would undoubtedly bring in some added creativity at Chelsea. Still, he’s not an outright upgrade on any of the attackers we already have, so unless one or more of our forwards depart, the Turkey international’s signing appears to be unlikely.
