Head of Organizing Committee: No plans to cancel Tokyo 2020

The organizers do not intend to cancel the Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan, and want to hold the Olympics in the context of the coronavirus, taking into account all security measures, the chairperson of the Organizing Committee, Seiko Hashimoto, said.

Report informs that Hashimoto was commenting on the statement made by the Secretary-General of the Liberal Democratic Party, Toshihiro Nikai.

Nikai noted the Tokyo Olympics could be canceled if the pandemic worsens.

The Summer Olympic Games 2020 were to be held from July 24 to August 9. The games have been postponed from July 23 to August 8 this year due to COVID-19.
