Haji Aliyev defeats Armenian opponent in European Championship

Azerbaijani freestyle wrestler Haji Aliyev has defeated an Armenian opponent in the European championship in Bucharest, Romania.

Report informs that the 28-year-old world and European champion (65 kg) defeated Vazgen Tevanyan in the 1/8 final.

In the first part, Aliyev scored one point from knocking opponent out of the mat. Later, the meeting was postponed due to the injury of the Armenian athlete. Azerbaijan's representative dominated in the second round as well and qualified for the 1/4 finals. Tevanyan, who could not cope with defeat, did not want to stand up after the final whistle sounded.

He has also shown dissatisfied gestures against the referee.

In the 1/4 finals the 28-year-old wrestler will encounter the winner of Vladimer Khinchegashvili (Georgia) - Nachyn Kuular (Russia) meeting.

Another Azerbaijani wrestler Aghahuseyn Mustafayev (70 kg) will face Armenia's representative, world and European champion David Safaryan in the 1/4 final.
