European Championship: Azerbaijan's taekwondo fighter claims bronze

Azerbaijani taekwondo fighter Minaya Akbarova has reached the semifinals of the European Championship in Sofia, Bulgaria.

According to Report, the 46 kg athlete faced Russia's Larisa Medvedeva in this round.

Although Akbarova lost to her opponent with a score of 2:15 and could not reach the final, she finished the competition with a bronze medal.

Three other Azerbaijani taekwondo fighters, who joined the fight today, won no medals. In the men's competition, Bahruz Guliyev (54 kg) lost to Mateja Ivanovic of Serbia in the 1/8 finals with a minimal gap - 13:14.

Competing in the weight category of 58 kg, Parviz Isgandarov made an unsuccessful start in the European Championship. In the 1/16 final, he lost to Moldova's Stepan Dmitrov - 3:10.

In women's wrestling, Patimat Abakarova defeated Italian Martina Korellini 12:6 in the 1/8 finals but lost to Romanian Liana Musteata in the next round - 7:15.

The European Championship will end on April 11. Eleven taekwondo fighters represent Azerbaijan.
