Changes made in licensing system for weightlifting in Tokyo Olympics 2020

Baku. 9 July. REPORT.AZ/ Changes have been made in the licensing system for weightlifting in Tokyo Olympic Games in 2020.

Report was told in Azerbaijan Weightlifting Federation decision was made at the next Congress of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) in Tashkent, capital of Uzbekistan.

At the qualifying stage during the meeting, the previously existing rule was abolished. Athletes will have to win Olympic licenses individually no within teams. The qualifying competitions will last in 3 stages - from November 1, 2018 to April 30, 2020.

Athletes who want to win a license must compete in at least 2 contests and score points at the approved weight categories for the Summer Olympics during the classification period. The first qualifying race will be the world championship among men and women to be held in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan on November 1-10.
