Baku hosts 17th plenary assembly of International Ski Mountaineering Federation

For the first time, Baku has become the venue for the 17th Plenary Assembly of the International Ski Mountaineering Federation (ISMF).

According to Report, the event brought together around 60 representatives from 24 countries worldwide

During the assembly, Florian Zengstschmid, Vice President of the Azerbaijan Winter Sports Federation, highlighted the significant progress made in recent years to develop winter sports in the country.

He said the establishment of necessary infrastructure, training of athletes, and hosting of international ski mountaineering competitions in March this year, along with the opening of an ice arena, exemplify Azerbaijan's commitment to advancing this field.

Regula Meyer, President of the International Ski Mountaineering Federation, commended Azerbaijan's growing interest in ski sports and the creation of slopes and infrastructure that meet international standards. Meyer expressed the federation's readiness to continue holding large-scale competitions in Azerbaijan in the future.
