Azerbaijani swimmer wins silver medal at int’l festival

Azerbaijani swimmer Ramil Valizada won a silver medal at the International University Sports Festival held in Yekaterinburg (Russia), Report informs referring to the Azerbaijan Swimming Federation.

In the tournament, in which swimmers from 37 countries participated, the Azerbaijani swimmer lost only to Russian Roman Shevlyakov in 200-meter butterfly event.

Rashad Abdurrakhmanov, the head coach of the Azerbaijani national team, praised the athlete’s result: “This year, the competition at the International University Sports Festival was very intense. Ramil Velizade managed to win a silver medal in such a difficult competition.”

According to the head coach, the Azerbaijani athlete Fatima Alkarimova reached the final twice, but failed to break into the top three.
