Azerbaijan's Fuzuli hosts opening ceremony of Mingachevir Regatta-2024

The opening ceremony of the Mingachevir Regatta-2024 international tournament for academic rowing, kayaking, and canoeing took place at the Ashaghi Kondalanchay reservoir in Fuzuli, Report informs.

The event was attended by Youth and Sports Minister Farid Gayibov, National Olympic Committee Vice-President Chingiz Huseynzada, General Secretary Azer Aliyev, Azerbaijan Canoe and Rowing Federation President Vugar Ahmadov, and other officials.

The ceremony began with the playing of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan, followed by a minute of silence to honor the martyrs.

Emin Huseynov, Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan in the Aghdam, Fuzuli, and Khojavand districts, addressed the guests, saying, "It is a historic and significant day. The city day of Fuzuli is being celebrated for the second time. The organization of the international tournament here for the first time adds color to it. I thank everyone who contributed to the organization of the tournament. Four years ago, Fuzuli was liberated from occupation. Our people returned to their land."

Declaring the competition open, Farid Gayibov welcomed the guests and wished the participants success: "Welcome to Karabakh, Fuzuli."

Today marks four years since Fuzuli was liberated from Armenian occupation. The regatta will conclude on October 18.
